Top tips to earn an income in retirement

50 ways to top up your pension and earn money after retirement – tips 1 to 10

I was talking with a senior citizen friend of mine the other day about how he manages to live off what seemed to be a meager pension. But I was to be amazed. It seems that my old chum Jack is a lot more entrepreneurial than I’d given him credit for. It seems that he has his finger in many pies. Quickly, others joined in our conversation, and before we knew it we had ourselves a fully blown brainstorm session, of people primarily over 60, giving mostly tried and tested ways to earn money after retirement.

Not one to miss an opportunity, out came my pencil and paper, and after further research, here is my definitive list of 50 great ways to top up your pension. Fifty is a big list, so for ease, I’ve broken them down into 5 separate posts of ten. To start, here’s top tips 1 to 10. Look out for 11 to 20, 21 to 30, 31 to 40 and 41 to 50 over the next fours posts.

So here goes with top tips one to ten:

1. Rent out your spare rooms

With the proliforation of room renting services like Airbnb, many retirees are using such services to make the most of unused rooms in the home. Options include renting for one night, a week or even a month. So when you’re town or city next hosts a popular event, you can cash in.

2. Join Rent-a-Grandma
